Making representations of shamanic helpers, sometimes called a fetish, is a practice that goes back many thousands of years. Some fetishes are ornate but they can also be simple and crude. They are not just representations of helpers but also hold their power, energy and offer an ongoing deepening of connection as we create and work with them. 

In this month’s meeting we will ask which of our helpers wants to be created and how they want to be represented. No crafting or artistic ability is needed, it is the intention and energy of how the fetish is made that is important. Journeying, dance and song will be used in the creation and honouring of the fetish. 

We will be using air hardening clay to create the fetish and there will be an additional cost of £2 to cover the cost of the clay. The fetish you make will be no bigger than the palm of your hand. We are hoping to provide two different colours of clay – Terracotta and White. You will be able to paint your fetish at home once it is fully dry if you are show it needs to be different colours.

First Journey – drum journey
I’m going on a journey to meet a helper to ask what to make a fetish of and to be shown what it looks like (may or may not look like your helper)

Second Activity – Making the Fetish in a focussed way,
manifesting what is there already, bringing out the spirit and also creating it
call the sprits to help, sing, use rattle, fill fetish with power and energy of helper being created.

Fourth Activity – sing and dance to honour the fetish
